13/09/08 First home game of the season for
Westend Saturday against Thornton Heath and they ran out comfortable
winners on the day by 3 goals to 1 with goals from Cavozzi, Purssey and
Goff.
20/09/08 Another solid home performance from
Westend saw them win this game by a convincing 6 goals to nil against
Dynamo Pimlico who struggled to come to terms with the relentless pressure
put on them by the home side. Goals from Mike Barbato 2, Luxford, Barrett,
Purssey and Morgan sealed the win.

Despite going down to two early goals from Chipstead FC in this
County Cup fixture, Westend soon found their form and bounced back with
five goals from Morgan, Purssey, Barbato, Cross and Cunliffe to see them
safely into the next round. (Result won 5 2)
04/10/08 Westend were bundled out of this game
by a very strong and robust Hersham side that run out winners by 3 goals to
1. This was despite a very spirited performance in the second half from the
away team and although Cavozzi pulled a goal back just after half time it
was just one of those days and try as they may, Westend couldnt pull back
the 3 goal deficit.
11/10/08 Teck Senior Cup 1st round
Westend claimed the scalp of Premier side Robin Hood in this hard fought cup
game winning by 3 goals to 2. The
score line suggests that it was a fairly close game, in reality it was a
very convincing win that should have amounted to many more goals and this
would have given more justice to the end result. Goals from Carne, Cunliffe
and Luxford ensured the win.
18/10/08 A tough game against the league leaders
ended with a 2 - 1 defeat for Westend despite a hard fought encounter
against a strong Old Ruts side. A goal from Carne early in the second half
put the home team one up against the opposition but Ruts kept chipping away
and pulled the deficit back within minutes. The away team scored the winner
against the run of play in the 70th minute to secure the
win.
25/10/08 Away vs Reed FC County Cup Round 2
Westend were drawing 1 1 at full time and forced the game into extra
time, even after the extra 30 minutes being played the score line still
remained at 1 goal apiece. The result was finally decided on penalties and
Reed FC held their nerve to secure a very narrow win.
01/11/08 Opponents Esher
United were much too strong for Westend in this Division 1 encounter. On a day when the game was played in
torrential rain and high winds it was Esher
who adapted themselves to the heavy pitch conditions and were eventual
winners by 4 goals to 1.
08/11/08 This Teck Cup 2nd Round
match went all the way to the wire with Westend eventually coming out on
top after playing an added 30 minutes of extra time. The scoring went like a
see-saw with Alex Purssey scoring first, Premier side SHFC then levelled to
make it 1 1, SHFC soon added a second goal to make it 2 1. The home
team then bounced back with Ben Couchman grabbing the goal that took the
tie into extra time. A pulsating game was erupting and it was Purssey who
scored again to make it 3 2 and with the minutes ticking away Mike
Barbato made it 4 2. SHFC came back again to score a third goal and a
nervous finish ensued, the nerves were finally calmed when the referee blew
the whistle to signal the end of the game.

22/11/08 Westend were back in league action at
the weekend and ran out winners against
bottom of the league side Dynamo Pimlico thanks to a goal from Mike
Barbato to give them a 1 0 win.
29/11/08 In a closely fought game on
Saturday, Westend fell foul to a
sucker punch of a goal and were beaten by Kingston
Albion 1 0 in this league division 2
encounter.

20/12/08 Westend ran out comfortable winners
against Wandsworth Corinthians with an emphatic 4 goals to 2 win to ensure
that they kept themselves in the promotion hunt, goals from Couchman 2,
Barbato and Carne saw them home safely.
03/01/09 The home side kept up the pressure on
the league leaders with a convincing 5 1 victory over Westside. The game
played at Westend Common was touch and go as some of the pitch was frozen
but thankfully the referee allowed the match to go ahead. Westend were soon
in their stride and adapted well to the conditions with goals coming from
Purssey 2, Couchman, Cross and Cunliffe sealing the win.

17/01/09 - In a tough away match to Esher Utd,
Westend came out on top winning by 2 goals to 1. Two Westend players sent
off and there were various other yellow cards shown to both sides during
the game, despite the sending offs the game was played in the right spirit
throughout and goals from Purssey and Wyatt with a 35 yard belter of a free
kick sealed the win.

14/02/09 Away vs Westside Drew 3 3 with
goals from Couchman 2 and Cross 1
21/02/09 Westend lost this match against a very
good Kingston Albion
side by 2 -1 with the goal coming from Alan Wyatt.
28/02/09 A great result from Westend who earned themselves
a semi final place by convincingly beating Premier team Summerstown in this
Teck Cup 3rd Round game by 3-0. Goals were scored by OHalleran,
Barbato and Luxford.

Away vs Maori Park League Senior Cup 2nd Round
Westend lost out after playing 90 minutes of normal time, plus 30 minutes
of extra time and the game was finally decided on penalties with Maori Park
winning by 4 3.
14/03/09 Westend only managed to put out 10 men
against Thornton Heath but they still ran out winners by 4 2 with goals
coming from Couchman 2, Carne and Kay.
21/03/09 Westend were outdone in this Teck
Senior Cup Semi-Final against Premier opposition Claygate Royals which
resulted in a disappointing 3 - 0 loss.
28/03/09 Westend fielded an under strength team
against Old Rutlishians and although they battled hard the result went
against them with a 3 0 loss.
04/04/09 Away vs Wandsworth Corinthians Drew 1

25/04/09 Westend played a double header against
AFC Molesey, the first game ended in a 2 0 loss and the second game also
ended in a loss by 2 1, Westends goal came from Alex Purssey.
