Sunday Second Team Match Reports
14/09/09 – Westend’s 2nd team travelled to Weston
Green and were up against Tattenham Hotspurs in their first game of the
season. Although winning by 3 - 1 at half time there was a major collapse
in the second half and they ended up losing the game by 9 goals to 3. Goals
were scored by Jake Saunders 2 and Paul Briley.
21/09/08 – This game saw Westend come up against Melrose FC and a much
improved performance on the week before. The game see sawed both ways with
the scoring but it was Melrose
who eventually ran out winners by 6 goals to 4. Westend’s scorers were
Goddard, Russell, Saunders and Caswell.
28/09/08 – Despite only being able to field 10
men, Westend gave good account for themselves against a very strong Inter
Wallington side and only lost this game by 6 goals to 3. Goals came from
Tim Caswell 2 and Liam Goddard.
05/10/08 – Westend Reserves grabbed their first
win of the season thanks to an excellent all round team performance and
proved that they could be a match for any side in this division. Goals by
Liam Goddard and Steve Johnstone sealed
the win by 2 goals to 1.
12/10/08 – The Reserves faced Merton Rangers in
the 1st round of the Surrey
County Junior Cup on
Sunday and ended up losing this game by 4 goals to 0.
19/10/08 – In this Junior Challenge Cup 1st
round game against RBL Utd, the Reserves turned on the style and won by a
comfortable 7 goals to nil. This was clearly going to be their day and
Westend certainly took the chances offered to notch up the biggest win of
the season so far. The goal scorers were Styles 2, Francis 2, Burden,
Harrington and Kirby.
26/10/08 – Away vs Lind Athletic – Game cancelled
at request of league.
02/11/08 – Despite putting up a dogged
performance, opponents Lind Athletic were completely outplayed by Westend
who secured their second win of the campaign by knocking in 7 goals without
reply. Goals from Saunders 2, Burden, Francis, Styles, Quudus and Cooper
earned a vital and well earned 3 points.
09/11/08 – Esher Athletic proved much too strong
for Westend Ressies in this Junior
Challenge Cup 2nd Round game and won by 6 goals to 1, Westend’s
solitary goal came courtesy of Liam Goddard.
16/11/08 - The reserves battled out a superb 1 all
draw against a very strong Warren Mead side on Sunday. This wasn’t the game
for the faint hearted and although the points were shared this was a very
good result for Westend.
23/11/08 – Westend stormed to another fine league
win by convincingly beating Surbiton Dynamos by 4 goals to nil in a game
lashed by driving rain, snow and gale force winds. Goals from Burden,
Styles, Goddard and Kirby earning all 3 points
30/11/08 – This re-scheduled home fixture was
played at Elm Grove Rec in Walton against a very strong Esher
Athletic side who won the game by a comfortable 7 goals to 3. Westend’s goals came from Goddard 2 and
Heaney.
07/12/08 – Home Warren Mead Res – Match being
played at Molesey Hurst RG
14/12/08 – Away to Surbiton Dynamos and another
fine result for the Ressies with a plucky 1 – 1 draw thanks to a well taken
goal by Goddard that was held onto by Westend until the 85th
minute of the game.
21/12/08 – Westend Reserves played top of the
league side Corinthian Casuals at Windmill Lane and saw them end up with a
5 – 1 defeat, this result severely dented the side’s promotion aspirations
as a win would have taken them into the top four of the division. Westend’s
solitary goal was scored by Ben Styles.

11/01/09 – Away vs The New Prince – Junior Charity
Cup 1st Round – Cancelled due weather
18/01/09 – Away vs Melrose – Lost 5 – 0
25/01/09 – Away The New Prince – Junior Charity
Cup 1st Round. The Ressies got back to winning ways again in a
fast and furious cup tie winning 3-2
with goals from Harrington 2 and Le Boudec.

Away vs Lind Athletic – Game cancelled due to weather
15/02/09 – No game scheduled
22/02/09 – In this Junior Charity Cup 2nd
Round match Westend lost by 5 -1 with the only goal coming from Pedro
Frances.
01/03/09 – Westend drew this match against top of
the league opposition Corinthian Casuals to earn a very creditable result,
goals from Francis and Le Boudec earned the draw.
08/03/09 – In a very entertaining game against
Malden Town, the result was finally settled with a fine goal by Francis to
grab all 3 points and a very
satisfying 1 – 0 win.
15/03/08 – Despite fielding only 10 players
Westend Ressies put up a stout performance away to Lind Athletic in this
division 7 clash, the end result going the way of Lind with a 3-2 win.
Westend’s goals came from Styles and Goddard.
22/03/09 – In a cleanly fought contest and despite
piling on the pressure for most of the game Westend finally came unstuck
when Warren Mead scored 2 late goals to snatch the points.
29/03/09 – Despite playing some neat football
throughout the game against Inter Wallington the result finished up with a
3 – 0 loss for Westend.
05/04/09 – Away vs Esher Athletic – Westend put up
a brave performance and were narrowly beaten by a high flying Esher side by
3 – 2, the Westend goals came from Goddard and Francis.
26/04/09 – Home vs Tattenham Hotspur – Westend
produced a fine performance in the penultimate game of the season and won
convincingly by 5 – 2. The goals were scored by Goddard 2, Styles 2 and Le
Boudec.
